Many many people made Grown in Totnes possible in many different ways. This chapter is a small attempt to acknowledge and thank those who supported us along the way. Like any list of thank-yous it is imperfect, some people are mentioned more than once, and not everyone who should be mentioned more than once have been. No doubt some people who should be on this list have been forgotten, but no offense is intended, only immense gratitude whether your name appears or not.

There are two people without whose contributions Grown in Totnes would literally never have happened and they warrant a further mention here:

John Letts

is an archaeobotanist, farmer and plant breeder, and has spent 35 years trying to understand how crops were grown in the past in order to develop more sustainable farming methods that can be used in the present. John has patiently and generously provided Grown in Totnes with advice and support on most aspects of the project; he saw the potential in Grown in Totnes and was always there to share and impart his wealth of knowledge, to help us realise our vision.

Lena Stolle

Interned with Grown in Totnes from March to July 2017 at a critical point in the set up of the enterprise. She was a joy and pleasure to work with, she turned her hand to everything from writing our HACCP and risk assessments to milling flour and planning the logistics of the processing unit. She had the remaining missing skills that the GinT team needed.

In 2019 she came back from Germany to apprentice at the Schumacher College gardens. In her spare time she pulled together all of our archive materials to illustrate this Toolkit. It was a huge undertaking and without her methodicalness and tenacity this wouldn’t be the visually rich resource that you see today.
